Delicious food and really hospitable staff. The beet salad and tuna appetizers were spectacular. The fry bread and burrata were also tasty. The gnocchi were well prepared and the vodka sauce was a perfect match. Least favorite was the lasagna as it was not traditional and a little on the dry side with alternative flavors. Alicia (hopefully spelled that correctly) was absolutely on point as was the host/lead …this is a great spot for Italian food.

I have finally found an Italian restaurant that blew my mind! This place surpassed expectations. The service was great, the food was wonderful and i had the best company. From appetizers to the main course, we were involuntarily making inappropriate noises eating the food it, was that good. If you're feeling adventurous, the chicken liver mousse was fantastic, surprisingly light. I highly recommend the Pappardelle, beefy flavor layered with tomatoe and cheese. Tender beef short ribs that fell apart with the edge of a fork! We also tried the squid ink pasta! Something I've only seen on TV was full of flavor. It wasn't too heavy, and everything worked when it was all mixed together. We already have reservations again for next week!

Wonderful for a family dinner! Since we went as a group we decided to share everything. Starting with the fried artichoke, salad greens, and fresh bread with a burrata spread. Loved the granola and asparagus hiding in the salad. Moving on to pastas we tried the chef’s special four cheese ravioli, and some standard menu options being the lasagna, crab tagliatelle, beef short rib pappardelle. Each were spectacular, with the ravioli and pappardelle being my favorite. Beautiful restaurant with tons of seating options and a bar in the back of the space. Highly recommend for your next family dinner or night out.

This is some solid Italian-ish food with local flavors. The starters we ordered were the tuna & bean salad and braised leeks. Both had a bunch of flavor. The leeks were kind of awkward to eat since they don’t cut very well, but I forgive that because they were delicious with the ashy blue cheese sauce. The salad had a nice balance of sweetness, acid, and salt. Though the tuna was a little on the dry side, the overall experience of it with the crackers was enjoyable. The gnocchi was crazy, pillowy soft and filled with ricotta. I’m a slut for some vodka sauce and it was made even more savory with the additions of mushrooms bc this is the PNW, baby! Usually gnocchi fills me up too fast, but the tomato tartness of the sauce and textures in the dish made it very moreish. We added meatballs, definitely recommend. The tagliatelle is what late spring tastes like. I love peas, spinach, and shellfish, so this delivered. The greenery of the pasta paired very well with the crab and shrimp. The overall flavor was a clean salinity that I want when eating fresh seafood. Perhaps a little bit on the salty side, but it was a “bright” salty instead of a heavy one that makes you want to chug water, if that makes sense. Too bad we were too full to handle dessert, I’m a bit ashamed to say I couldn’t hang. Yes, I would return

Delicious Italian food and cocktails. Loved the beets by Dre cocktail. Recommended dishes : beet salad 10/10, seafood spaghettini (best dish we had!) , gnocchi and meatballs were also delicious! Olive oil cake was also delicious but a bit dense per my liking! Would definitely come back to try more on their menu.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary. The menu is small which is fine because EVERYTHING we ate was so delicious!!! We had the artichoke as an appetizer. We also had the tagliatelle and the pappardelle, and the meatballs. We made reservations so there was no wait for a table but I could see there being a wait without a reservation. We will definitely go back!

Gumba is absolutely my favorite Italian restaurant in Portland. All of the food blew me away. These pictures are from two separate visits. The Fry Bread was so light and fluffy and paired with the Chicken Liver Mousse it was heaven. I don’t like chicken liver … I would venture to say that I hate chicken liver … but that mousse is absolute magic. The pickled onion and pickles raisins were a perfect pairing. I could eat that every day and be happy. The clams were fresh and the citrus saffron sauce was so well balanced it was a sort of dance of flavors and textures that all worked well together. Not pictured were the tangerine marinated olives. I want a giant jar of those at my house at all times! Olives are give or take for me, but by god those are the best olives I have ever eaten in my life! They are sweet with a slight heat that was very pleasant. The Garlic bread and the meat balls were the perfect happy hour appetizer for two. Both delicious and the meat balls were cooked perfectly. The Spaghettini was divine. The mascarpone added a fresh light creaminess that pulled all the other flavors together and the squid ink pasta made for a great presentation and was absolutely delicious. The Tagliatelle was so light and fresh and that Dungeness Crab was a delicious treat! The star of the pasta show was the Pappardelle. I felt like Anton Ego in “Ratatouille” when I took the first bite. Absolute silence and reverence for the most perfect pasta dish I have ever eaten in my entire life. The flavors are so so complex yet comforting and the beef is so tender it falls apart. It was so flavorful and comforting it made me sigh with relief … from what I don’t know but there it is. If you are in Portland looking for Italian food, please check out Gumba. You will not be disappointed!

A cute, fun, and bright spot for yummy Italian food! We made a reservation for 7 and got seated right away. The service was quick, but not that friendly. And for an automatic 25% gratuity, which we were not told about prior, I expect excellent service, which we did NOT receive. I eventually saw it at the bottom of the menu…but that’s neither here nor there. You’re knowingly getting a 25% tip, so either you’re not even trying because it’s automatic and/or you just don’t care and maybe you shouldn’t work in customer service. Our server seemed smug and dropped off dishes too quick to answer any questions or ask for any other requests. I had to ask if there were any specials; he didn’t openly tell us about it. The food was really good, though and I loved the ambience. But the service really put a damper on the experience.
